Generally, patients and their relatives coming to Government General Hospital for treatment are from poor financial back ground.
They are already under trauma because of the diseased condition and financial crisis. These people, especially the accompanying relatives, do not get adequate and enough meal every day; nutrition remains a far cry.As the saying goes: ‘You can't pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.’ An underfed and distressed relative will be unable to ensure enough care and attention to the patient as well; neither would a patient recover from a diseased condition without proper food. Delayed recovery, complicated treatment course and prolonged hospitalizations will only add to the Government’s burden and productivity of such institutes & country, as large.
Our founding father – Shri Kanchanlal Patel strongly believed – ‘One cannot go to sleep hungry’.Hence, he thought to provide freshly cooked, home-made and nutritious food daily during evening hours for the patients and their relatives, free of charge.Food was served at the Government Hospital Premises by his team, which ensured nourishment and faster recovery for the patient, and satisfaction and good sleep for the accompanying person. He also arranged for different menu each day, throughout the week, to avoid boredom for the recipients. He ensured a good quality for the food prepared, by setting up a team of food tasting personnel who keet a close watch on the preparation, quality and taste of the food prepared for this social cause.
This food distribution activity continues till date for almost a decade now, since its inception in October 2010. A dedicated vehicle with driver is assigned for daily transport and distribution of food. Our Patient Surveyor evaluates the requirements on daily basis around noon hours everyday; so as to ensure enough quantity of food and its distribution without missing out on any one, and avoiding additional wastage at the same time. Caring and Soft food distribution staff ensures comfortable distribution of food to the needy recipients
